Amal Sehrawat: Everything is there online and a person is left with much time in hand these days to use it effectively

In today’s fast-paced existence, many feel time management is quite a task. However, Choti Sarrdaarni and forthcoming show Harphoul  Mohini actor feels otherwise. He opines that we all have got a lot of time in our hands and we must thank the internet boom for that.
He explains, “If you have to shop for anything you don’t have to spend time on going to a mall or a shop. Similarly, if you want to transfer money, you don’t have to go to the bank and wait in long queues. Everything is there online and a person is left with a lot of time and they can use it very effectively in my opinion. A person therefore should definitely use it for his or her profession and also spend more time with family. Along with all these, everyone should also meditate so that they can handle things and their free time better.”

Everyone is occupied in their respective careers, while people who belong to the entertainment industry often complain about shortage of time. “I partially agree with it as shoot schedules are not very structurally planned and are very erratic. The shoot time also extends and the locations are not fixed so sometimes you have to travel really far. Shortage of time is there but that is a part and parcel of life. So, whatever remaining time we have, we must spend it with family,” he says.

Sundays or offs don’t feel like a holiday now. Thanks to communication tools like mobile phones and social media, we have forgotten where to put a full stop.

“Yes, even after shoot hours it does not feel like leisure hours or holidays at all because we are so addicted to our phones and social media. I have seen that many times people go to dinner and parks with family but they are busy with their phones and forget to enjoy the moment. I believe that mobile phones should only be used during working hours and a person should dedicate a time slot for social media usage and should not exceed the time slot,” he says.

Sharing two time management tips, Amal adds, “Firstly, meditate so that you become focused and concentrated. Then plan your entire day in those 15-20 minutes and secondly whatever job you are doing, put full concentration into it so that you complete your tasks effectively.”

Talking about social media, does he feel life was pretty simple before it came into existence? “It was, but we also have to realize that the exposure and the connections were also so limited at that time. Today sitting in Mumbai, I have got information about all my friends staying scattered in different cities of India and even staying abroad. I know what they are up to but the problem lies when we cross that thin line between involvement and obsession. Getting involved with social media for fun and to gain knowledge is a good thing but getting obsessed with it is simply stupidity. You should know where to draw the line. One should use social media and it should not be the other way around,” he ends.
