While things are looking up, actress Bhumika Chawla says that gender equality needs to be focussed on more in the industry, as well as other professions. This Women’s Day, the actress urges people to consider women and men equal especially in their professions. “Gender equality is something that Guru Nanak Dev Ji believed in and emphasised. Things today are better in terms of gender equality though we need to emphasise it more – in work culture. Our industry has come a long way yet has a long way to go,” she says.
The actress adds that there needs to be a certain level of awareness. “God created men and women differently, they have different personalities yet in professional fields they need to be treated equal. On the home front, most middle-class families who have women managing homes may not always get the due they deserve and therefore the men and families need to be educated,” she says.
