‘Bigg Boss 16’: Ankit Gupta supports Vikas Manaktala for captaincy

“Bigg Boss” house can be a tricky place to be in. With so many cameras capturing the contestants’, tasks happening every day, and the audience judging them on their every move, it can be difficult for the contestants to take a stand even when the whole house is against them. But, Ankit Gupta is not one to follow the suit, he does what he feels is right and stands by his words.

In the Monday episode of the show, Bigg Boss announces that there will be three captains this week and tells Vikas Manaktala and Soundarya Sharma that they are the two captains for this week and there will be a task to find the third captain as Abdu Rozik is not there. Vikas and Soundarya will be the boss of the BB office while the rest of the contestants will be office employees, and they will be bitching and complaining about other contestants to make sure that they are removed from the task.

Soundarya and Vikas removed Ankit from the task in the very first round. But since the two bosses couldn’t come to a conclusion in the second round, Bigg Boss asked the contestants to fire one of the bosses. Though Vikas chose to remove Ankit in the first round, Ankit chose to save him. He said, “Jinki captaincy humne nahi dekhi unko ek chance dena chahiye.” (We should give a chance to those who haven’t become captains yet).

The housemates still fired Vikas, but Ankit choosing to give him another chance shows that he doesn’t hold grudges and believes in playing fair.

Even when he was going to get fired, Ankit did not forget to showcase his funny side. When Vikas called him, he answered the call and said, “Hello. Deviprasad hai kya?” Vikas tells him that he is fired. That’s when Ankit took a stand for himself and said that he was really good as a captain and everyone was happy during his captaincy. Later when Tina Datta flirts with him, he can be heard saying, “Isne kuch galat kha liya hai. Tabiyat kharab hogayi hai iski”.

Later, during a conversation with Priyanka Chahar Chaudhary, Ankit tells her that an individual person becomes a soft target in the house. Priyanka replies that she has never seen groupism work in the show. Ankit then tells her that he has never watched the show so he has no idea.

The episode is just a glimpse of how honest and fair Ankit is. We don’t know whether groupism works or not, but showing one’s true side always works. Guess that’s an advantage for Ankit.
