Channa Mereya actor Chirag Bhanot on changes in the industry: Things are more organised now, people are ready to experiment with story…, even with acting talents

Chirag Bhanot plays the role of Harjeet Cheema in Yash Patnaik and Mamta Patnaik’s ongoing TV show Channa Mereya on Star Bharat. The actor is happy to have bagged the part in this romantic ensemble and shares that he loved the story and the title from day one.

“Much like the song Channa Mereya is a superhit title. I think everything about this show is special. The star cast, the team working behind the camera, the channel and most importantly our producers,” he says. Chirag’s character Harjeet is a guy from a well-to-do family. And, the actor shares that he can easily relate to the part and therefore, enjoys portraying it on screen. “As I said, the show has a beautiful star cast. It feels amazing to be around such great souls. Every project needs a strong actor, but with television, it is even more important because you have to work with your co-stars every day. Apart from that much like the audience, we all enjoy unique stories. Channa Mereya is one such concept. To engage viewers to watch your show, you need to offer them something unique every day, and ours have everything that viewers enjoy,” he adds. Showering praises on the Patnaiks and their production house Beyond Dreams, he says, “I am happy that our paths have crossed in life. They both are amazing human beings. Being able to work with them feels great, there is so much to learn for this kind-hearted and understanding team,” he says. About the changes he has found in the entertainment industry over the years, Chirag adds that these days, people have started to divide their work and there are specialised departments for everything. “Things are more organised now. People are ready to experiment with story, look, feel and even when it comes to acting talents,” he says. Daily soaps will always have an audience, no matter what. “I think audiences are getting mature. Only good content will have them engaged. Many who used to be glued to TV serials have now got their hands on to OTT and other platforms. So it’s necessary that we and our content keep on evolving,” he signs off
