Niyati Joshi, who plays Swarna Goenka in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, says the long-running show has always been grand.
The new track of Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai has clicked with masses and classes. “I feel I have mixed emotions because I do miss my old cast a lot,” she said.
“All of us are very close, but I feel that the new track that has come up has a lot of freshness in it. I guess it was time for us to revamp the show and come up with new faces because obviously initially everybody was a bit scared thinking will people accept the new faces because Mohsin and Shivangi had a strong fan base, but luckily the track has done well. Our lead actors have been accepted. Let’s see what the future holds,” she added.
For her career, Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai has been the cherry on the cake. “As everyone knows Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai has been the longest running show and I’m really grateful to God that I got this opportunity to be a part of this milestone show,” she said.
“Wherever I go, the reach of Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai is massive, obviously running for the past 13 years they have seen 3 different generations. But the respect that I get outside, people recognise me. It’s a lot of fun when I actually step out and people say, ‘Naira ki Saas, Kartik ki Mummy’. So yes, it obviously feels really nice,” she said.
The show is produced by Rajan Shahi of Directors Kut Production. “I had always dreamt of working with DKP, but things never worked out. I don’t know what happened, but I am just so happy working in DKP and happy to be a part of Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai,” she said.
“Rajan ji has always been a risk taker and then he actually thought about this story. He took a huge risk which obviously, changing the lead actors is like a very big thing which he has done thrice. He has proved himself and he has always believed in the storyline. He has always believed in his lead actors. And here we are today,” she added.
She noted that whenever he comes on the set, he always tells them one thing. “He says, ‘guys don’t worry about it, this story is going to rock. We are going to cross all the numbers’. And it actually happened,” she said.
Initially she used to never watch her episodes. “But now after the leap in spite of acting in those scenes, I love watching the scenes. I love watching the show. The new generation has added a little bit of spice, a little bit of freshness to the show. There’s a new cast. It’s always good to see new faces on screen. And the storyline is also completely different. The storyline is based on the kids. Kartik-Naira’s presence is also there but at the same time the story is about their kids now. So yes, it’s fun to watch something new that has come up,” she said.
The best compliment she has received for her scene was when the director said, “Cut” and everybody came up to her and told her that she had done a fabulous job. “And the director came up and he was like, ‘Niyati fantastic job!'”
According to her, Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai is all about the relationships between all the characters. “We are together in happier times. We are together in bad times. We fight a lot, but when the time comes, the family stands by each other,” she said.
“When you talk about the look and the feel of the show, well it’s rich. You can actually compare a YRF movie to Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai. We actually shoot dance sequences or festivals. When we look around, the setup is grand, everything is grand including the outfits. A lot of importance is given to the outfits in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, even the jewellery. In fact I have heard that a lot of jewellery is sold as Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai jewellery in Rajasthan. So yes, Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai has always been grand and will always be like that,” she added.
