Ranaksh Rana: Education, helping underprivileged children close to my heart

Fidaai actor and model Ranaksh Rana says that education and playing a part in underprivileged children’s lives are close to his heart.

“Playing my part for underprivileged children and education, in general, are close to my heart. Education can give direction to those who are capable and hardworking. I don’t like to disclose what I do for others or for the larger society because then it loses its meaning,” he said.

He does it because he wants to, with no expectation of acknowledgment.

“Being from a remote village myself, I have tried to support those who are capable but don’t have the opportunity. The support could be in terms of giving direction, training how to present themselves or just guidance on professional and personal developments. I believe in playing my part in whatever way possible to better someone’s life, even if it’s one person,” he said.

He thinks when a celebrity supports a cause it gets more attention from the public. “With a wider scope of influence, it is easy to spread the right information when needed and create a sense of awareness and accountability. Walking the talk is very important when you have influence over a large audience,” said the model.

Supporting a campaign or a cause gives him personal satisfaction too. “One truly supports any cause when one believes in it and derives personal satisfaction out of it. Only then you can sustain it for long and make a difference. Becoming an ambassador for a noble cause means you are capitalising your reach to do greater good and that’s satisfying,” said the model.

Lockdown and pandemic was a difficult time for all of us. “I did my bit, but I do not want to disclose it. It was our moral responsibility to act as responsible citizens and humans. So no point if you do something to help someone in times of crisis and talk about it,” he said.
