Sagar Parekh: As a kid, I remember being intrigued by my father’s collection of audio cassettes and loved listening to them

Music plays a very important role in actor Sagar Parekh’s life. For him, melodies are like mood boosters. The Anupama actor likes to listen to all kinds of songs.

“My favourite genre is 90’s classical rock music. I love Queen, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Eagles and all. Arijit Singh and Mohit Chauhan are my favourite male singers and Shreya Ghoshal is my all time favourite female vocalist. They are versatile and have soulful voices,” he says.

Sagar listens to very soothing music when he is sad and when happy, he mostly plays the Runway track from Aurora.

“I know how to play the acoustic guitar, I learnt it when I was in class 12. There’s a story behind it. During my boards, my mother didn’t let me step out of the house so that I could focus more on my studies. So, I would get bored whenever I would take a break in between to relax. So one day my mom was like do you want to learn some musical instrument, maybe a guitar? And I always had this fantasy of learning guitar, hence I was more than happy. Initially, I started learning from YouTube,” says the actor, who participated in various competitions and annual day functions in school.

There was a time when music was only available on audio cassettes and CDs, now times have changed and thanks to technological advancement every kind of song is just a click away.

“As a kid I remember being intrigued by my father’s collection of audio cassettes and loved listening to them. Then there were CDs. But now we have our phones, laptops, Ipods etc where one can listen to any number of music, anytime and anywhere. It’s quite a liberating feeling,” he ends.
