Sunidee Chauhan: Being a public figure we’re judged quickly… people don’t understand that we also go through difficult phases

Whether it’s Johnny Depp-Amber Heard’s defamation trial or Miss Universe 2021 Harnaaz Sandhu Miss Harnaaz opening up about being body shamed or Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Nick Jonas becoming parents via surrogacy, celeb stories always make headlines. It is often seen how every such incident leads to many people judging these known names without knowing the truth behind. Vidrohi actor Sunidee Chauhan agrees to the same and says its time people think before they form any opinion.

“Being a public figure we are judged quickly. We are always being watched, people do react to what they see, without getting to know why a certain thing has happened,” she continues, “I haven’t experienced any such controversy yet and I hope this does not happen in future again. It’s very difficult to make people understand what we individuals go through at certain times. Every coin has two sides so some people will agree with you and some will disagree. I would rather have no comments on that publicly.”

Social media makes things go viral. Most people enjoy the attention, but plenty react to it too. “Social media has its own advantages and disadvantages. It’s useful also to reach out to the masses and sometimes it becomes harmful. And I have seen people enjoying this as people say negative publicity is also publicity,” she adds.

Fame has its price. Being a celebrity has its own baggage as well as responsibilities. “It’s true. Being a celebrity is a very difficult job to handle. A celeb has a huge number of fan followers who look up to them, worship them, follow them everywhere. Recently KGF actor Yash declined to endorse a pan masala and elaichi brand, it was a multi-crore deal. Pushpa actor Allu Arjun rejected tobacco endorsement just because he doesn’t want his fans to get influenced into addiction. So I think every other celeb should consider this as a serious responsibility,” she says.
