An actor is easily replaceable today and that’s the biggest challenge we face today: Munisha Khatwani

OTT platforms may have opened the floodgates of opportunities for actors but many who continue to work on TV struggle to get quality work. Some of the talented actors have been sitting idle waiting to take up work. Long waiting spells are the biggest hazard of this profession. Actress and Tarot card reader Munisha Khatwani who is currently seen in her show ‘Wheel of Fortune’ on Tata Sky has learnt how to deal with it.

She agrees that while there are a lot of opportunities for actors today, they are easily replaceable. She says, “Of course, it is tough being an actor because of the growing competition. While there are opportunities, there’s no dearth of people grabbing them either. The biggest challenge an actor faces today is that he is easily replaceable. In the past, the makers would choose an actor who fits the part and so, they weren’t easily replaced. Personally, the most challenging part of my journey is being recognised as a tarot card reader.”

Talking about the unpredictable nature of the glamour industry, Munisha says, “It’s quite uncertain. You could be shooting non-stop for a while and would be out of work once a show has wrapped up. I believe in destiny and hence, what’s meant for you will reach you anyhow and if it’s not, no matter how hard you try, you won’t get it. So, instead of worrying about what could not be, live in the moment, be happy and grateful for what all you have.”

Being a celebrated tarot card reader, the actress, who was last seen in Tantra, firmly believes in stars and luck. She says, “I would just say some actors are lucky and their stars and luck favour them. On the other hand, some talented people are sitting at home today and the mediocre ones are getting to explore a lot of opportunities. I feel that one should go ahead with whatever comes his way because you never know how it benefits you in the future.”

She has her own ways of dealing with dry spells on the acting front rather than getting bogged down. She shares, “I keep myself occupied, especially mentally. I dive deeper into spirituality, puja, and meditation and indulge in activities that are fruitful like workouts or an interesting class. I live with the attitude of gratitude. I always reflect on my journey and from where I have come. I always look at what I have accomplished in my life. It is important to have a positive mindset because the universe responds to positive vibrations. Inner peace is the most valuable thing you should have today.”
