Hemant Chaddha on World Health Day: Health is a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being

World Health Day on April 7 promotes the significance of following a healthy lifestyle, inside out. Hemant Chaddha feels social media is an important powerful tool that can help in spreading awareness about World Health Day. Organizing events and fundraisers also help in making people understand why our body and mind, both are our temples.

Health is not only limited to physical fitness but also means mental well-being. “Health is a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being. All three go hand-in-hand to create a perfect balance for a healthy life,” says the Ambar-Dhara actor.

In our fast-paced life, erratic work schedules, one’s health goes for a toss. “I take care of my health by making sure I don’t skip my meditation and workout. I eat healthy and don’t indulge in junk food at all. Meditation helps balance my mental and emotional health and for my physical health, I work out and go for running regularly,” he shares.
Though the saying ‘Health is Wealth’ is old, the pandemic has made us take it seriously. “The crisis has made us all realise the significance of fitness and strength, and people have started taking health more seriously. We have all witnessed that people with underlying health issues were more vulnerable to the infection, so keeping the body and mind healthy, eating right etc became our prime focus,” he adds.

Some of the lifestyle changes that one needs to make like eating better, joining a gym etc can be costly. Ask if he is willing to cut back on a few things so that he can make room in his budget for these important expenses, and Hemant says, “Yes, I am willing to put money on health habits if I have to because when it comes to my health nothing else matters.”

Not one to follow any diet, the actor prefers eating healthy. “Many people stop eating in the name of diet and it all comes back eventually. Eating the right food at the right time is what makes us keep fit. Being a Punjabi, I love to eat. For me it was the temptation that was the hardest to resist but I have overcome that now,” he shares.

Talking about the two things he follows and two things he avoids for health reasons, Hemant adds, “I drink 3 to 4 liters of water every day, I work out and meditate every morning without fail. No junk food for me and no late-night snacks. I also keep myself away from toxic people and their drama.”
