Arun Mandola: Good health doesn’t just mean looking fit!

For actor Arun Mandola, health is much more than just looking fit, it is also about feeling healthy and being mentally happy. The actor says that the has always believed in this concept. “Good health doesn’t mean you should look fit from the outside. Everyone should be mentally happy as well and this can be done by doing Yoga or meditation. This helps build mental and emotional health. I mean, the state is such that we don’t even know what to do if we are clinically depressed. It’s a very serious concern. Last year, one of my actor friends committed suicide because of depression. Gym is only for external fitness but what about the internal fitness,” he says.
He adds that he has always tried to take charge of his health. “Fitness is not only about workout or Yoga. What you eat or drink also matters. It is so important to eat healthy. Even if I am busy, I make sure that I am following a healthy lifestyle. I feel it makes all the difference,” he says. Health has always been a cause that Arun has believed in. “When I was in Delhi, years back, I had done more than 100 street plays on Aids Campaign in Punjab and Haryana. I also feel that the government needs to work on initiating health-related campaigns on TV,” he says. The actor adds that the pandemic has changed the way people feel about health, but for many this is not a permanent change. “I don’t think much has changed. I have seen that people are often rigid and they go back to their own ways in no time! So, I am not sure about how much they will stick to what they learn,” he says. As far as food is concerned, it’s all about balance, says Arun. “I am a foodie and I can’t stop myself from eating delicious food. I eat everything but I have strong policy that after having lunch or dinner I walk 100 steps and, of course, I work out every day and I also meditate daily,” he says, adding, “I have started fasting as well and I usually make sure to drink 5 litres of water,” he adds.
And what is a complete no-no for him? Arun says, “There are a few things that I always avoid. I make sure I am not smoking or drinking and also I don’t go for late-night parties or outings,” he adds
