Simaran Kaur : When one chooses showbiz as a profession they must be ready to embrace all that comes with it

From Johnny Depp-Amber Heard’s defamation trial, Miss Universe 2021 Harnaaz Sandhu opening up about being body-shamed to Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Nick Jonas becoming parents via surrogacy, celeb stories always make headlines. Such incidents, at times, also lead to people judging these known names, without knowing the real reason. Agreeing, Aggar Tum Na Hote actor Simaran Kaur feels that it’s a part and parcel of the job.

“I think it is part of the deal. The fans love you and support you so they expect you to behave according to certain moral and ethical standards. I feel it is OKAY to be judged by our fans. Sometimes it does help you introspect and understand a few things too,” she says

Simaran considers herself lucky to have only received love and adulations from her fans. “But I think if someone is in such a controversy, then honesty, authenticity and maturity are your best friends. We need to be ready and learn how to deal with such things,” she adds.

Social media makes things go viral. While some enjoy the attention, there are many who react to it. After all, not everyone believes that negative publicity is also publicity.

“I guess it is human nature to enjoy the attention. I think reactions should always be authentic yet controlled and measured. A mature response to most issues is the best response rather than an impulsive one,” she explains.

Fame has its price. Being a celebrity has its baggage and responsibilities, but not everyone understands that.

“I believe when one chooses this profession they must be ready to embrace all that comes with it. Once you are mentally prepared the baggage does not weigh you down and you like being responsible,” she signs off.
